THE “TOTE ODD" LAYERS.
.... CHRISTCHURCH, August 24.. At the Police Court to-day two bookmakers-- Chamberlain and Shetlander were each fined £2 and costs for trespassing on the Canterbury Trotting Club’s ground on the occasion of the recent races. The latter stated that he .was not a bookmaker, but an importer of furs. Seventeen others are charged with a similar offence, and their cases are proceeding.
