HIGH WARD IN THE CITY COUNCIL.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—l notice that at the latter end of the present month nominations are duo fur the City Council, and unless the ratepayers of High Ward are satisfied to be still represented by Mr Peter M'Grogor (whose torn! of office has expired), it will be necessary to nominate some person for the vacant position. High Ward is the central, the wealthiest, and of course the most important ward in the City, and it certainly seems to me that Mr M‘Gregor does, not possess any of the qualifications that are necessary in a suitable representative. There must be scores of educated, intelligent, experienced men of business connected with High Ward who are fit for the position. I sincerely trust one such will offer himself. One cannot shut his eyes to the fact that the present representation of High Ward is to some extent a farce.— l am, etc., Citizem. Dunedin, August 20.
