ACCLIMATISING URIWERA COUNTRY.

WELLINGTON. August 16. Mr A. Rutherford, who left last month, informs the Press Association that he got through to Lake Waikarema with trout ova for the lakes and streams in the Uriwera Couutry on August 4, after a week's detention in Napier owing to the bar being bad at Wairoa. All the ova except two trays are hatching out successfully. In Cones, in the Uriwera Country, he found grand colonial deer. The park scenery was magnificent—a mountain with a forest lake, and the stream a paradise for birds, fish, and .tourists.
