NAPIER HARBOR BOARD.
At a meeting of tho Napier Harbor Board, held yesterday, the question of reorganising the staff' was considered, and applications were opened for the various positions. It was decided to appoint Mr J. T. Carr, the present engineer, to the post of engineer and secretary combined, at a salary of £4OO per annum. Mr Kraeft was reappointed harbor-master and pilot, at a salary of £250 j and Mr Saunders, the present secretary, was made wharfinger at £2OO. The question of the Kidnappers light was considered at length, and it was decided that Mr S. Carnell, ex-M.H.R, and Mr R. D. M'Lean, M.H.R., should prooeed to Wellington- and urge on the Minister of Marine the desirability of proceeding with the work, and to protest against the money voted being diverted towards the erection of a lighthouse on the East Cape.
