LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Otago Land Board, held this afternoon, was attended by Mr J. P. Maitland (Commissioner of Crown Lands) aud Messrs Clark, Duncan, and Dallas. Mr 1). Clark wrote requesting that the area of" about 1G acres lying between blocks C, 7, and 8, town cf Waipori, and the river be granted to the residents of Waipori under the Domains Act. The Board do not see the necessity to increase the area at present granted to the Committee, but will recommend that the area held be made a recreation reserve if so desired. Ranger Atkinßon forwarded a valuation of the improvements upon the following sections in block 5, Strath Taieri, the leases over which were recently declared forfeited : —Section 57, valuation £l9 5a Gd; section 58, £5 18*; section 59, £l3 16s; tection 61, no improvements; section 62, £l7 13s 6i. —lt was decided to reopen the seotions on the former conditions; valuations approved ; late lessees to be allowed to remove hut on boundary of sections 58 and 59, as no valuations will be allowed for same. C. F. Roberts wrote objecting to the rent charged Ralph Nicholson for his occupation lease over thirty acres, being part of section 11, block 9, Marewenua district Ref :rred to Chief Surveyor to obtain further i iformation from the district surveyor. Ranger Atkinson forwarded a report on setions 5, 9, 10, 15, block 5, Tiger Hill district, and upon the application by G. N. M'lntosh for the said sections.—To be offered yearly licenses under section 116 of the Land Act at 6d per acre, with license fee of £1 Is. Toe application of George Hodgins was considered for a lease in perpetuity over 180 acres upon run 219, Naseby district.— i Declined ; laud not to be dealt with until survey made oa the expiry of license. Ringer Hughan reported on William Doak's application for a license to quarry stono on ssotion 359, block 7, Tokorahi Estate. —Consideration deferred. The Chief Surveyor requested that the Tautuku Peninsula be reserved as a Government paddock for the use of tho public departments exclusively.—Resolved that the Survey Department be allowed in the meantime the use of the area referred to for the purpose of a paddeck for the horses used by the department. The following seleotors on the Ardgowan Estate were reported as not complying with the residence conditions of their leases : Jessie Matheson (section S6), Bessie Johns'on (S7), Divid Isbister (90), Thomas K.jcles (91), D. P. Pryde (92), J. F. Crawford (93), M. G. D->nuison (102), E'iztbeth Deuuison (103), J. A. Rollins (105). Patrick Fallon (111). J. M'Farlane (112), Ellen Dunovan (115), Hannah Smith (125), H. B. Crawford (129), Henry Phcloung (131), John Heavy (133), and James Foddie (138). Consideration was deferred till the 24th iust.

Mrs Darragh applied to surrender allotments 15 and 16, Teaneraki Estate.—Consideration deferred. Thomas Wilson made a similar application for section 15, block 4, Leaning Rock district. Referred to Ranger Hugnan for report.—The application of Robert Miller, section 36, blcck 10, Glenomaru distriot, was refer, ed to Ranger Atkinson for report. Margaret Reid applied for permission to transfer to Thomas Reid, jun., allotment 4.1, Maerewbonua 10 state.—Approved. The following applications for completion of purchase were approved:—Peter M'lnnes, section 1, block 1, Domet district, J. H. Crutchely, section 9, block 4, Swinburn ; and Andrew Kearney, section 19, block 4, Gimmerburn district. The Board were requested to reoonsider their decision in regard to the unsold sectiots in block 13, Tarras district.—Resolved, that io2tions 1. 2,8, 9,10, and 11 be recommended for notifi ■ ition at capital value of 5a 6d per acre. Resolution of 2ud June rescinded so far as it refeij to the sections mentioned. Samuel Shaw applied for about 100 acres of the buih reserve adjoining section I, block 15, Maungatua district.—Referred to Ranger Hughan for report.
