COMMITTAL OF A LETTER CARRIER.
NAPIER, Jpxk 16. John M'Connachie Brown, a letter carrier, was committed for trial on a charge of stealing a letter containing £l, the property of the Postmaster-General. Detective Chrystill in his evidence stated that when he arrested the accused he said: "I must confess to stealing the letter and £l. I intended to confess the whole thing to Mr Jago, the postmaster, bat have not done so." Two other charges of stealing letters containing £4 are pending.
