A MILLIONAIRE'S END.
BARNEY BARNATO DROWNS HIMSELF. [Pbb Pbkss Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, Jdne 15. News has been received of the suicide of Barney Barnato, the well-known South African millionaire. He was a passenger from Cape Town to England, and when the~steamer was at Funchal, Madeira, he threw himself overboard. His body was recovered, but life was extinct. The deceased had been in failing health for some time past. SOME LIGHT ON THE DEED. AUCKLAND, Jone 16. The following from the San Francisco mail summary is interesting in connection with the Barnato suioide cabled to-day : —*' A sharpdrop in Barnato group South African securities was occasioned in. London on May 26 by a despatch from Cape Town stating that Barney Barnato was suffering from nervous prostration, and that his friends had found it necessary to place bim under restraint. A subsequent despatch stated that Barnato was suffering. from Cape fever, but that his condition was not serious."
