LATEST ARRIVALS AT HEADQUARTERS. Thelateit Jubilee arrivals are the Hoo. W, Laorier (Premier of Canada) and his wife, Sir Henry Strong (Chief Justice of Canada), the Hon. B. Escombe (AttorneyGeneral of Natal). Lord Roberts inspected the colonial contingents of the Jubilee troops at Chelsea. He expressed himself well satisfied with their appearance, and said their marohing was good. Sir Edward Braddon (Premier of Tasmania) and Lidy Braddon have arrived. ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE PROCESSION. A meeting of the Procession Committee was held last evening, and attended by Colonel Webb (chairman), Captain Milne, and Mr A. Bathgate. The following bodies were also represented either personally or by proxy :—Kaikorai, Citizens’, North-east Valley, and Navals’ Bands, ex-volunteers, fire brigades, 1.0.0. F., Loyal Orange and Protestant Alliance, Druids, Sons and Daughters of Temperance, M.U.1.0.0.F., Foresters, Juvenile Foresters, and Otago Papar Mill employes. The following time, route, and order of procession were agreed upon 11.15 a.m.—Form in column of route in the Triangle, Cumberland street, facing north-east in the following order;—Otago Hussars, B Battery, Garrison Band, rifle volunteers, Fire Brigade, Citizens’ Band, ex-volunteers, Otago Paper Mill employes, M.U.1.0.0.F., Foresters. Juvenile Foresters, Sons and Daughters of Temperance, Druids. 1.0.0.F.. Orange Institution, and Protestant Alliance and other societies in order of appliance. The under-mentioned bands will be allocated in the following order at intervals in the procession—Xavals, North-east Valley, Kaikorai, Engineers. 11.45 a.m.—Procession moves otf by the following route Cumberland street, Stuart street. Moray place east. George street, Octagon, where the procession will be joined by carriages (which will follow the fire brigades) containing the mayor and city councillors, consuls, and members of Executive Committee; then along Princes, Rattray, and Maclaggan streets and Serpentine avenue to Jubilee Park. The volunteers will continue on to Queen’s Drive, and form up to the north of Mr Crust’s house line facing east. The mayor, councillors, town clerk, and city engineer will each plant an oak on arrival at the ground. His Worship the Mayor will then deliver a short address, intimating that the oaks have been planted in commemoration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, and will be called “The Victoria Grove.” His Worship will conclude by calling for three cheers for the Queen. The flag will then be hoisted on the flagstaff as a signal to the volunteers to tire their salute. After the salute the assembled bands will play ‘God save tho Queen.’ They will then play it a second time, when all assembled will sing the first verse, which will conclude the proceedings. Colonel Webb intends providing line marshals from the Hussars; while Mr J. B. Callan is to be asked to act os chief marshal of the civilian bodies. The Foresters will be mounted in the picturesque dress of the Order; while the Druids will wear their ancient costumes. At a representative public meeting in the Council Chambers at Auckland, the mayor presiding, it was decided to rescind the former resolution respecting a children’s hospital, and instead to erect a Queen’s statue in commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee. The proprietors of the ‘Herald,’ Messrs Wilsons and Horton, head the list with £SO. The Cabinet met at Wellington yesterday and discussed the question of the release of certain prisoners in recognition of the record reign, but nothing will be divulged until the 22nd inst. The Masonic service which was to have been held by the English, Irish, and Scottish Constitutions on the 20th inst., at the Agricultural Hall, has been postponed until Sunday, 4th July, at the same piaee and hour. At the meeting of the George street School Committee last night the matter of supplying a banner to be borne by the children in the procession on Jubilee Day was left to the chairman to act. The Arthur street School Committee resolved last night to present a Jubilee medal to each of the pupils of the school. The pupils will take part in the children’s demonstration on Jubilee Day. The Committee of the Athena-um have made arrangements for the illumination of that institution during the record reign Celebrations. A movement is on foot in Port Chalmers to celebrate the Jubilee by the inauguration of a Port Chalmers co-operative workshop for local unemployed. An application for the use of the Council Chambers for the purpose of holding a preliminary meeting with this object in view was only carried at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council on the casting vote of the mayor. » The subscriptions for Southland’s record reign memorial—the addition of a “Victoria ” wing to the hospital at Invercargill—are mounting up bravely. The amount collected so far is £1,302 5s 34.
