GOOD TEMPLARY.
The Lily of the Valley Lodge, 1.0. G.T., held their usual weekly meeting last evening in Sheeran’s Hall, • King street. There was a good attendance of members and visitors. Four candidates were in waiting, and were initiated by Bro. Robert M'Kinlay, P.C.T. Bro. Merry, secretary, furnished refreshments in the shape of tea and cake, it being the anniversary of his birth; while the sisters of the lodge supplied a variety of fruit. During the evening Bro. R. M'Kinlay, on behalf of the members of the lodge, presented Bro. Merry with a handsome silver-mounted walking-stick, and Sis. Bowie presented him with a valuable silk scarf, Bro. Merry suitably replying. During the evening Bro. R. Moore, C.T., Bro. D. C. Cameron, and others testified to the willingness of Bro. Merry to devote himself to the work of the Order, either in his own or other lodges. A subscription on behalf of the children’s ward resulted in £1 Is being collected. Harmony was contributed to by songs from Bro. M‘Connell,»Sis. Wicks, Bros. Barton, O’Brien, and R. M'Kinlay, and a capital recitation by Bro. Mills. A vote of thanks was passed to visitors, and responded to by Sis. Cameron (Pioneer) and Sis. Bowie (Hope of Dunedin), a very enjoyable evening having been spent.
