FIRES.
WELLINGTON, June 14. A fire occurred yesterday at the Union Company's stores, Taranaki street. iTfce damage at first was thought to be trifling, but it is now believed that it will amount to some £3OO. From the fact that a hose kept oil the premises was cut, there is some ground suspicion that the outbreak was not accidental. The total insurances on premises and stock are £ 1,700. A six-roomed dwelling-house at the Lower Hutt, belonging to Mr J. Pettie and occu. Pied by Captain Home, has been burned. It was insured in the Phoenix for £2OO.
