MORNINGTON RECREATION GROUND.

The action of the Mornington Cricket Club in undertaking the formation of a recreation ground in the district is one worthy of the support of the residents. For several years Mornington has stood out conspicuously as the only suburb which did not possess some kind of a ground suitable for recreation purposes. We understand that it is intended to level about two acres of that part of the Town Belt fronting the Mornington tramsheds, and, after having it completely drained, to top dress it and sow it down in grass. A good deal of excavation will be necessary, but it is intended to turn the bank caused by the excavation to good account in the shape of terraces. Toe City and the Mornington Councils, after inspecting the plans, etc., unanimously approved of the idea, and it is to be hoped they will show their sympathy in a practical manner. The first contract has been let, and the contractor is proceeding satisfactorily with his We' understand the necessary funds in the first instance have been advanced by members of the club, and it is intended to hold a baziar early in July for the purpose of repaying the expense. As the value of a wellturfed ground will be beneficial to residents, it is to be hoped the club will be encouraged and supported when the bazaar is on. A most euthusiastic meeting of ladies was held in the Temperance Hall, and a strong committee has been formed to carry out the bazaar. j
