THE AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN,
THE TEAM SELECTED.

SYDNEY, January 29.
The Selection Committee—Messrs Bruce, Giffen, and Garrett have chosen the following thirteen players to form the Australian team to visit England next season :
New South Wales. Donnan, Gregory, Iredale, M'Kibbin.
Victobia.—Graham, Harry, Johns, Trumble, H. Trott.
South Australia Darling, G. Giffen, Jones.
Tasmania.—Eady
Johns goes as wicket-keeper. [The exclusion of A. E. Trott will come as a great surprise;, but that of C. Turner was quite expected.]
C. W. Rattray having notified that ho will be unable to take part in the annual match against Canterbury, C. Beck's name has been added to the list of those selected to practise for the match. In the first innings in the match between Victoria and New South Wales the Victorians made 319. Tho full scores were : Bruce 23, C. M'Leod 100, H. Trott 03, Graham 1, A. Trott 18, Donahoo 33, Laver 48, Harry.3l, R. M'Leod 5, Trumble 1, Johns 3, extras 3. Richardson took two wiokets for 50 runs, Howell two for 61, Turner two for 91, and M'Kibbin four for 114. At the close of the day's play the New South Wales Eleven had no wickets down for 22 runs, Donnan being not out with 11 and M'Kenzie not out with 10. H. Trott's innings was a meritorious performance. Donahoo showed magnificent hitting power, scoring 17 in four hits, including one great hit over the boundary. His innings was short but very brilliant. C. M'Leod scored steadily.
