LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board was held to-day, aud was attended by the Comtnisioner of Crown Lands (Mr J. P. Maitland) and Commissioners W. Dallas* H. Clark, J. Duncan and A. M‘Kerrow.

Ranger Mackenzie farther reported on the application of R. M'Dougall and Henry M‘Kay for 350 acres and 300 acres respect* lively, Lower Wanaka.—M‘DoogaU’s apDU* cation was deferred and M‘Kay’s declined. Ranger Mackenzie also reported anib® application by William Paterson for a right, to occupy part of reserve adjoining seotioaa 1 and 22, block 1, Shotover.—Declined. Ranger Hughan reported on the applicator, by H. Crossan to ooonpy sections 2, 4, 6, 6, block 8, Dnnkeld.—Yearly license; granted at rental of 10a. Alexander M‘Gunn’s application for a license to occupy about four acres adjoining sections 28 and 29, block I, Beaumont, was reported on by Ranger Hughes, and a yearly license granted at a rental of 10a. David Mann applied to have sections 2, and 6, block 5, Swinborn, opened for application.—Referred to Banger Fraser for report. E. Monson offered £5 per annum for ran 34, Shotover. —Consideration deferred. The secretary of the Education Board requested that the following sections be set aside as school sites: —Section 5, block 10, Leaning Bock, and section 59, Maerewhenna Estate.—Government recommended to set apart the sections as school sites. John Thompson, on behalf of Silas Hore, applied to have section 69, block 18, Tuapeka East, offered for sale at a reduced price.—Referred to Ranger Hughan for report. Noah Hardwick made application for a coal lease over twenty acres, part of sections 23 and 24, block 1, Akatore.—Application not entertained.

Banger Hughan reported on the application by R. B. Cameron to occupy part of gravel reserve, section 61, block 2, Benger. —Yearly license granted at a rental of £l. E. Cotton’s application for a license to occupy sections 13, 14, 16 to 19, block 4, Waipori, was considered, and it was resolved to offer a yearly license at 4s per acre.

The request of the Tuapeka County Council that the commonage and mining reserve in the Waipori Riding be placed under the control of the Waipori Commonage Committee was also considered, and it was agreed that the land in question be included in license already held by tbe Committee over land within the hundred.

T. Chalmer, on behalf of Samuel Griffiths, applied to be allowed to engender lease over small-grazing run, section l r block 7, Budle.—Referred to ranger for report. District Surveyor Calder reported oirche application by John Reid for a license to occupy part of tailings reserve opposite section 20, block 7, Upper T&ieri. —Declined.

John Ede requested the Board to reconsider their decision in regard to forfeiture of lease over village settlement section 51, block 4, Sutton.—Board declined to alter previous decision.
