CHRISTCHURCH, October 23.
At the inquest yesterday on the young girl Mary Rose Smith, whose death was said to have been caused by typhoid fever, the medical evidence proved that death resulted from peritonitis. No trace of typhoid was found, although deceasftd had been it.
