FIRE AT BROKEN HILL.

The fire in Block XL, Broken Hill, which was supposed to have been extinguished, has found its wajr to the 150 ft level of Block X., whioh is now alight,

October 22. A. largo area has subsided in tho levels where the fire is located. There have beep indications for some time that it wis approaching from Block XL, but it was thought that the barriers erected would prevent the invasion. The fire is supposed .to have made its way through underground fissures. 11l the available force is engaged in fighting it, and immense quantitiesof water are beiug poured in. The latest official reports:state that the fire is confined to a small section on the boundary of Block XL, and the management are very hopeful that they will prevent its spread.: The outbreak has had a very depressing effect on .shares in Block X, which fell from 75s to 655, but have since slightly"recovered. Shares in other mines in the vicinity have also been considerably affected*
