VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

A cards and draughts match took place on Friday between representatives from the B Battery, N.Z.R.A.V., and the Dunedin Highland Rifles, twelve men aside, which resulted in a win for the Rifles by five games. Lieutenant Stoneham (Highland Rifles), in returning thanks for the satisfactory manner in which they were entertained, hoped that the Battery would have better luck in the return match. He considered that these social gatherings between the various companies would strengthen the feeling of comradeship which should exist amongst the different branches of the volunteer service. The following are the details of the games played:— CaIBUAGE. , 1J BATTERY. HIGHLAND RIFLES. Wins. Wins. Sergeant Niveu 1 . Lieut.
