MUNICIPAL.

Caversham. —The meeting of this Council was held last night, and attended by the Mayor (Mr Sidey), Crs Wilkinson, Burgess, Wilson, Hancock, M'Laren, Cole, Bridgman, and Ruston.—lt was resolved to erect two chains of fencing on the Forbury road, from the bank opposite Mr MMndoe’s to the crossing into Mr Shiel’s quarry, to prevent cattle and drays crossing the footpath on to the reserve ; to extend the drain pipes across the Ravenswcol road to Mr F. A. Lawrio’s property; to approve of the Works Committee’s action in having arranged with Mr Shiel for the supply of 100 yds rotten rock for the Forbury road footpath, at 6d per yard (the ordinary price was Is per yard, but as it was for the path in front of his. property Mr Shiel had agreed to let the Council have it at 6d); to refer to the inspector’s complaints as to Norfolk street and Lees street; to authorise the inspector to attend to the fire brigade’s request that fire-plug pegs be put down as soon as possible ; to give Mr Isaac seven days’ notice to remove a shed overhanging Mr Symonds’s property; and to instruct the inspector to repair the kerbing where necessary.—The returning officer notified the election of Mr H. K. Wilkinson as councillor, m'e Mr T. Yates. — The Ocean Beach Domain Board wrote con-> cerning the proposals submitted on behalf of the Council for compensation in respect to : buildings erected at the St. Clair baths and for repairs to the same. Before the Board could take the matter into consideration the legal position of the Board and their full right and title to the occupation and control of the baths, buildings, foreshore, etc., must be acknowledged by the Council in writing.

Upon this being done.the Board 'were prepared to equitably: and favorably consider any request for to hand over to the Council such a sum as might be determined to be fair and equitable in respect to such compensation os soon as it was in possession of funds sufficient to permit of this being done.
