Owing to the treatment that referees have been lately subjected to at the bands of some of the spectators at the North Ground, the Referees’ Association have passed the following resolution That no referee be sent to the North Ground until an assurance is given by the Union Club that he will be protected from insult from the spectators.” 6. Stephenson, who last season played three-quarter for the crack Manuinghatn Club in England, to-day received by post a handsome scarf pin from the Committee of that club. The pin bears the colors of the team, and is suitably inscribed. It is understood that Duncan is standing out of to-morrow’s trial match on account of a wrenched knee.
