At the criminal sessions, which begin on Monday, there are only nine cases against eleven prisoners, but two of them are charges of murder—viz., Somerville’s case, from Masterton ; and the charge against Kennedy and Jewitt, in which a woman was burned to death by a lamp being thrown at her.

j'Phe arrears claimed by the Crown from tenants in the Wellington district amount to £11,220, of which £2,000 is owing by “ special ” settlers.
