A MUSCULAR PREMIER.

ADELAIDE, July 30,

On Friday night tho Premier, speaking at Port Fairy in condemnation of the agitation against the State Advances Bill, referred sarcastically to Mr H. G. Sparks, manager of the South Australian Company and a prominent opponent of the Bill. Yesterday Mr Sparks met the Premier in company with the Sheriff in Victoria square. Mr Sparks accosted Mr Kingston, and, without warning, struck him several blows with a whip-stick. The Premier wrested the stick from his assailant, and got in several blows himself, and a scuffle followed, which was ended by the Sheriff and several bystanders dragging Mr Kingston away by force, while Mr Sparks drove off in a cab. Tho Premier’s ear was cut, but Mr Sparks evidently had the worst of the encounter. The Premier says that ho moans to take no action, as he is satisfied with what he gave Mr Sparks.
