With respect to the cablegram re the Tichborne case, none of the old identities here know of the man named Monkhouse, and his name does not appear on the electoral rolls within 100 miles of Auckland.

PALMERSTON NORTH, December 29. Mr Neville Thornton, scenic artist, corroborates the statement about Monkhouse, who is said tp know of the alteration of the ship Bella, having been a resideut in Auckland. He was draughtsman and decorator, and is believed to have inherited some money and proceeded Home about twentysix years ago. Some of his work existed at Mason's, hairdresser, Queen street, Auckland, a couple of years ago.
