CITY POLICE COURT.
(Before K. H. Carew, Esq., R.M.) DiU'.nkknnkss. Jt**k llarrey alias M'Kewiii (twenty-one previous convictions) was fined Ids, or forty-eight hours' imprisonment ; and a first offender was convicted and discharged. Alleged Criminal Libel,— foneph Henri/ Cutdiffe and Hurry Arthur Reynolds, printer and publisher respectively of the 'Globe' newspaper 1 ] were charged with libelling Dr King, superintendent of the Seacliff Asylum. Mr bolomon for informant and Mr A. S. Adams for defendants.—Mr Solomon explained that it had been agreed that if defendants enabled him to prove a prima far.it case against the writer of* the alleged libellous letter the case against them would be withdrawn. A prima facie case bad been made out, and he (Mr Solomon) asked leave to withdraw the charge.—Mr Adams thought that Mr Solomon had stated the circumstances correctly. An arrangement was made between the informant and defendants that on a prima facie case being established against the writer of the letter the proceedings against the defendants should be withdrawn. --Case withdrawn accordingly.
