ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

The skeleton of a man, supposed to be the remains of a victim of some recent drowning accident, Wigund on Jhe ghore of Motutapu Island (Auckland) yesterday. " A man named Christian Hansen was engaged in pulling down the old Raglan Brewery at Bulls on Saturday, when the building collapsed, crushing him so severely that he died a few hours afterwards. Deceased suffered terrible, agony until death. He was fifty-six years of age, The circumstances under which Mr Whitney Griffiths, of Blenheim, shot himself on the 28th ult. were very distressing. He went to his home early in the afternoon, and on getting to the house saw a blackbird, and proceeded to get a gun. The deceased was a popular member of the Blenheim City Rifles. A sad accident happened at Brunnerton a few days back. Anthony Calliuan, the ten-year-old son of Mr Callinan, was a great' fossicked after gold in. the crevices of the rocks, where floods had earned it. While' amusing himself in looking for gold, accom-, pauied by a younger brother, a rock (6owt or 7cwt in weight) fell on him, afid probably killed -him instantaneously.
