TOO MANY CURS AND HOUNDS.

HO TUB EDITOR. Sib,—ls there no by-law to prevent the large number of dangerous hounds running about our public streets and thoroughfares? It is now becoming positively unsafe to ride or drive at a moderate pace along some of our roads and streets; and notably so along the Anderson Bay road and in South Dunedin, owing to the way these curs are permitted to rush after horses. In no other civilised community would these things be permitted; and when citizens have to protect themselves from these brutes by the use of the whip, they aro liable to charges of cruelty being brought against them, such as I feel was unfairly brought against a decent young fellow from the Peninsula the other day. If the police do not put an end to the terrorism caused by these useless curs, I for one shall take the law into my own hands, and the retribution will be sharp and certain,—l am, etc., M.C. Dunedin, March 15.
