The following are summaries of the reports to be presented at to-morrow night’s meeting of the City Council The Public Works Committee recommend that the repairs reported by the surveyor to have been rendered necessary by the floods in the Water of Leith to the breastwork at Dundas street (cost L3O) and to the breastwork at Castle street (cost L7O) stand over in the meantime; that the footbridge over the Water of Leith at Clyde street be repaired by placing two piers underneath at about the edge of the water with outside struts to support the girders carried by the piers, at a cost not to exceed Ll2; and that Mr BlenkmsoppS application for permission to erect a signboard under his verandah m George street be referred to the city surveyor, with power to act. The city surveyor has been instructed to act respecting several small works in various parts of the City.
