SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The Ravensbourne and Rothesay School Committee held their monthly meeting last evening. The members present were— Messrs W. Barclay (chairman), D. Ferguson, L. Gillanders, J, Harrold, J. King, J, Palmer, and R. Jack, The head-master reported the attendance for the past four weeks as follows: —Number on roll: Boys, 130; girls, 102; total, 232. Average attendance: Boys, 116; girls, 93 5 ; total, 209.5. Mr Reid further reported that two pupil - teachers had passed their examinations, Mr T. Patterson having passed his final examination for the degree of B.A. It was resolved—“ That, seeing the number of children not attending school since reopening, parents be informed that the Committee will enforce the compulsory attendance clauses of the Education Act,” Resolved—” That the clerk write to the Education Board asking for additional accommodation of one room to the schoolmaster’s residence.” Two accounts were passed for payment, leaving a credit balance in hand of LI 12s sd, The treasurer to Penny Savings Bank reported deposits for February asL5 6i lid ; withdrawals, 2*41; total funds deposited, L 59 10s. The monthly meeting of the George street School Committee, held last evening, was attended by Messrs W. Simpson (chairman), S. M‘Donald, R. Coghill, C. Haynes, C. E Anthony, J. W. Jago, and the Rev. J. Gibson Smith. The head master reported that the number of pupils on the roll was 870, and the average attendance for the past five weeks 755. It was reported that the school stairs were in need of repair, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Education Board on the subject,
