Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. have received the following cablegram from their London house (Messrs Sandereon, Murray, and Co.), dated 9th inst. :-"Babbitßtinshave declined 124 per cent. James Samson and 00. report having sold part of section 22, block 27, Grange btreet, together with four-roomed dwelling house and outhouses thereon, to Mr Wilson for the sum of L 215. MIMING NOTES. The Upper Walpori Alluvial Gold Dredging Company, Limited, obtained 7oz 17dwt of gold tor two days fifteen hours' dredging last week. The Beefton gold returns for last week were:—Globe, 2Cooz amalgam from 175 tons; No. 2 Dark, 107oz of amalgam from 70 tons; Ocmberlaud, 3750z of amalgam from 82 tons. Mr F. Niooll, manager of the Hercules No, 2 Gold Mining Company, Limited, telegraphs the result of the wash-up on Saturday last as 590z 7dwt of gold, of .the value of 1.228 9s. Mr Jabez Burton, secretary of the United Hercules Hydraulic Sluioing Company, Limited, telegraphs the result of the washing-up on Saturday as 470z 14dwt 15gr, of the value of L18315a4d. THE LONDON MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 9th Inst.: "Tallow Is ready for sale. Fine mutton is worth, nominally, 27a 9d, and good beef 26a 9i per cwt.—Frozen meats: Market quiet. Price of mutton has declined Id per lb Blnce last report. New Zealand beef—forequarters worth 2ldperlb; other quotations unchanged. Market ismoderate.-BabMtsMns: Heavy Imports have caused the market to deoline. Best descriptions are Id per lb lower, and all other sorts show a deoline of 2d per lb."

Mails close here as under : For the United Kingdom and Foreign Countries via the United Kingdom, etc, at 10 a.m. on Friday, 16ih. Registered correspondence at 5 p.m. and money orders at 4 p.m. on Thursday, 15tb. Book packets and newspapers at 9 a.m. on Friday, 16th. Late letters bearing an additional Blngle rate of postage (2Jd) as a late fee can be posted in the mail van attached to the North train leaving Dunedin railway station at 11 a.m. on the 16th.

The above mail will close at the Branoh Post Offices, Dunedin North and South Dunedin, for money orders at 4 p.m , and registered letters at 5 p.m. on the 15th; lotters at 9.30 a.m , and newspapers at 5 a.m. on the 10th. At the Port Ohalmers Office at 5a m. on the 16tb, money orders at 4 p.m., and registered letters at 5 p.m. on the 15th. Parcels for the United Kingdom per Tainui will close at 9.30 a m.
