ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
John Bennett was out fishing at Westport on Saturday when his boat capsized. A boat which put out from Cape Foulwind, with three men to rescue Bennett, also capsized, but the crew saved themselves with difficulty. Bennett was rescued after beiDg two hours in the water. He is in a prostrated condition. In the football match Rovers v. Gordon, played at Auckland on Saturday, Thomas Sibbin, playing for the Rovers, accidentally tripped over a player who was dribbling the ball, and doubled his head under his breast, his spine being fractured. He was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious condition, and died shortly afterwards. He leaves a wife and several children. He was a son of Mr George Sibbin, auctioneer. The game played was under Association rules. Richard Walsh, bailiff of the Auckland Magistrate's Court, shot himself on Saturday. Domestic trouble pursued him. His wife died lately, leaving six young children, and he had received a summons to show cau3e why he should not maintain his mother.
