Five hundred delegates, representing two million workers, will attend a congress at Newcastle. The Trade Union Congress, sitting in London, gave a solid vote on the question of legalising eight hours. A congress of oolliery managers has carried resolutions strongly opposing statutory eight hours work in mines. There is renewed agitation among the employe's of the omnibus companies, and a strike 'w threatened. It is alleged that the oompanieß are infringing the agreement arrived at during last strike. Tyne ship-builders have decided to reduoe the wages of 10,000 men by 5 per cent.
