SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The usual meeting of the High street School Committee, held last evening, was attended by Messrs H, Mercer (chairman), W. Haynes, J. Caradns, J. Hatton, and W. Hislop. The head-master reported that the number on the roll was: Boys, 368 ; girls, 340 ; total, 708. The average daily attendance was: Boys, 331 ; girls, 304; total, 635. The deposits paid into the bank since last meeting amounted to Ll9 13s lid ; amounts withdrawn, L 4 ls4d —leaving a total balance to the credit of 450 depositors of L 134 9s Sd. The ordinary meeting of the Forbury School Committee was held last night ; present—Messrs Hancock (chairman), Johnson, Campbell, Caddie. The head-master reported the attendance for August to be : Daily average, 403.6; now on the roll — boys 247, girls 250; total, 497. The monthly meeting of the Albany street School Committee, held last evening, was attended by Messrs Barnett (chairman), Toomey, Maitland, and Shepherd, The head-master’s report showed that there were on the roll 418 girls and 356 boys—total, 804; with an average attendance for the past month ot—Girls, 331 ; boys, 370 ; total, 701. It was decided that the treasurer’s guarantee fcc increased to L2OO, and that the fee be paid out of the accumulated funds of the bank.
