THE BUFFALO MINSTRELS.
The change of programme announced for last night drew a large house at the Princess’s Theatre, and a house that was evidently bent on enjoying to the full the comicalities presented to them. Miss Priscilla Verne was recalled time after time for her medley song ‘Married,’ which met with unbounded favor; and the lady was also very successful in ‘On the bridge at midnight,’ in which she has on previous visits here scored with the public, Charles Hugo was as “immense” as ever, and bis comic singing was provocative of continuous laughter. His ‘ Saveloy man ’ was good, but the height was reached in his representation of ‘The New York Cadger,’ which conduced to make things extremely lively. Misses Teasie Cleveland and Pattie Bavin contributed, respectively, a waltz song and a ballad of the pathetic order, both of which were redemanded, rnd the two ladies also sang a couple of duets ia quite a “fetching" manner, Tom Makaniai appeared in some of his Irish specialties, in which he is very clever; and Miss Rose Andrews, the Gregory brothers, Will Hugo, and Mr George Neill also materially assisted in making the programme what it was—a success. ‘City Sharpers ’ and ‘ The Midnight Intruder* caused lotsof fun, thelatter bringing the entertainment to a close. An amateur singing contest will take place on Saturday night for which a cup is offered by Mr Hugo, and on Monday night a benefit will bo generously tendered in aid of the fire brigades of the City and South Dunedin, On Tuesday Mr Hugo and Miss Yerne take a benefit prior to their departure, it is said, for Europe, and it goes without saying that two such favorites are sure to be greeted with a bumper house. #
