AN EXPLANATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Referring to your issue of the 2nd and report of the Caledonian bicycle races, you have been misinformed as to the position of the Dunedin Cycling Club in the matter of Mr Kingston’s status as an amateur. The question has never had anything to do with this club, but was, I understand, referred direct to the cyclists’ governing body— i e., the New Zealand Cyclists’ Alliance, Christchurch—and then by them to the New Zealand Rowing Association. Mr Kingston’s actions have been very straightforward, and some of our members, awaie of the facts, have done all they could to assist him, —I am, etc., Secretary D.C.C. Dunedin, January 6.
