SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
At the Tuapeka races on the second d.y Ranger (40;; ec) won the Two-mile Trot, beating nine others, and paying a dividend of Ll2 3s. Miss Ann (7) won the Hand'car-, of 50 sovs (one mile and aha'f),with Apre, Moi (6.10) second, and Trapper (6.7) third ; and carrying 7st sbe annexed the Stswards' Purse, of 20 sovs (one mile), La Rose (9.12) being teaond, and Cinnabar (6.7) th'rd. In the one caee she paid a dividend of L 3 19s, and in the other of L 4 2s. Tne Consolation Race was won by Ap.i*3 Moi.
EXHIBITION REGATTA. The Match Committee of the Rowing Cub have selected the following crews to represent fie club at the above event : Champion I'ouis : L-e, H. S. Dick, Park, and Butcenvorth. Junior Pours : Mitchell, Howlison Reeves, and Stables. Maiden Fours: Hodgkhs, F. Dick, Edmond, and Marrh. Victoria, it appears, will not be represented in the four-oared race at the forthcoming regatta, Stephenson aDd Matterson the only Eoullers who have decided to come across. They arrive at Wellington tomorrow, and Stephencon will at once |io into strict training for his match with Hearn.
THE BOWLING TOURNAMENT. A meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association was held in the Grand Hotel hnt present—Messrs W. Carlton (president, in the chair), J. Scoular, W. Wedderspoon, S. G. Smith, W. Davis, R. Wi'son, James W. H. Morrison, ,J. Newman (North Fitzroy Club, Melbourne), and G. Capicick (hoa, secretaiy). Mr J. Newman reportrd that the wife of Mr G. Blyth (one of the Melbourne bowlers) had died on the passive over in the Waihora, and it was resolved that a vote of sympathy be pa-sed to Mr Blyth in his bereavement.
