EXHIBITION RIFLE MEETING.

Fourth Day—Thursday,

The anticipations of a fine day which had been formed when our first message left the ground were rudely dispelled at noon by a southerly buster suddenly springing up. In the afternoon the weather was squally, and a perfect gale blew, rendering it difficult to complete the standing match. The first prize in this event was a lady’s bracelet, of the value of LlO, and this handsome trophy was carried off by a bachelor member of the Well ington City Rifles. Fortunately neither of the matches got off in the afternoon counted tor the championship, as with the elements so unkind several “bursts” must have resulted. The following matches were fired during the afternoon:— Auckland Matchj.
