THE SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATIONS.

At to-ilay’a sitting of the Education Board the following correspondence and enclosures were received:—

The Secretary, Otago Education Board. Sir-We have the honor to submit our report on the examination for junior and senior scholarships, held at the end of last month. For the junior scholarships there were 62 competitors, and for the senior 39. Of tho former 13, and of the latter G, were disqualified in terms of regulation 0. The marks gained by the other competitors are given in the tables appended hereto. We recommend that the scholarships offered for competition be awarded to the first eight in the junior list, and the first ten in the senior list. Of those who are thus entitled to senior scholarships, seven were holders of junior scholarships under the Board’s scheme. The thirteen competitors following tho first ten in the senior list have gained more than 50 per cent, of the marks, and are. through the liberality of the Board of Governors, entitled to free education at one of the Dunedin High Schools. —We have, etc., D, Petrie 1 W.
