Macgregor, Wellington, geography in classes D and E and Junior Civil Service ; Professor Brown, Christchurch, history in classes D and E and Senior and Junior Civil Service; Rev. $. H. Gulliver and Dr A, M'Arthur, Auckland, art of teaching; Mr A. D. Riley, Wellington, drawing; Mr Veel, Christchurch, English class E and Junior Civil •■Service; Mr T. R. Fleming, arithmetic, class B and junior ; Professor Shand, Dunedin, Euclid, class D and Junior Civil Service, physics, class D, Junior and Civil Service, arithmetic and algebra, Senior Civil Service: M. De Montalk, Christichnrch, French, class D, Senior and Junior •Civil Service; Mr F, A. Biilau, Dunedin, German, class D, Senior and Junior Civil Service; Professor Black, Dunedin, chemistry, class D, Junior and Senior Civil Service ; Professor Thomas, Auckland biology, Senior Civil Service and class D; Sir Hyde, Wellington, shorthand, Senior and Junior Civil Service ; Mr G. H. Davies, Wellington, Maoiis. The number of can--didatea at the examinations for certificates dn classes D and E and the Senior and -Junior Civil Service is pearly 1,000 for the whole colony.
