The stewards of the Dunedin Jockey Club have received a requisition signed by Messrs Stead and Clifford, on behalf of Northern racehorse-owners, threatening to scratch all their horses for the Dunedin Cup meeting unless Mr Dowse is immediately removed from the position of handicapper. No reply has yet been forwarded, but it is understood that the club will reply refusing to entertain the request, and intimating their intention of upholding their officials. " Our Own " wires from Christchurch:—" It is the opinion here that Mr Evett has made a good handicap for the Auckland Cup, with the exception that Raglan is shamefully treated. Dudu is well in, but it is a question whether Bhe will be taken up, and the same remarks apply to St. James. Scots Grey and Hilda are reckoned the pick «f the handicap, and if Mr Gollan started Tirailleur we should have a good race. There is no betting."
