Preparations have been made at Homo for tho distribution of the prize-money awarded for the following captures by H.M.S. Garnet, viz. : Slave dhow, name unknown, slave dhow Dan, one slave, and eighteen slaves, captured 25th and 31st January, and 3rd and 6th February respsctively ; the Arab batela, name unknown, and eleven slaves, slave dhow Yougari, and Arab buti, name unknown, captured 4th, 11th, and 14th April respectively; one slave, a native vessel, Arab dhow, and dhow with eighty-nine slaves, captured, 3rd, 17tb, 22nd, and 29th May reflectively. Up to the present time the sum spent on H.M.S. Nile (11,000 tons), now being completed at Portsmouth, has been L 537.400 for hull, and L 113.018 for the propelling machinery. The estimate for tho gun mountings and torpedo gear is L55,63(i for the former, andlilo,96o for the latter, and her armament is estimated to cost L.70,930. Tho dockyard work necessary to complete her will absorb another L 40.000, making the total cost L832.9C4. Captain J. Hansby, late of theHawea, has been appointed to the command of the s.s. Dupleix, which is shortly to be put in tho Sydney-New Zealand trade. The Beautiful Star left the Rattray street wharf at 10 p.m. yesterday with cargo and passengers for Oamaru. The s.s. Invercargill, from Invercargill, arrived at Port Chalmers at 10.20 a.m. to-day, and steamed alongside the Bowen pier to take in transhipments. She left Invercargill at 5 p.m. yesterday; had light winds and fine weather along the coast. She brings 30,000 ft timber, 18 bales wool, and 10 casks tallow. Captain Sundatrum reports towing out of Invercargill the schooner Annie Hill, for Lyttelton, and the schooner Cora being ready for The Takapuna steamed down to Port Chalmers early this morning, and was taken into dock fo--cleaning and painting. The Hauroto has taken a large quantity of grain on board for Sydney. She eails tomorrow.
