A two-mile handicap took place at the Palace last night between the em]ployeY of Messrs Eindlay and Co. D. Blackie proved the winner, with G. Wedderspoon second. The attendance was good. The Columbia was also orowded, when a 2smile race was run between Messrs Batchelor and Maeedo. It was closely contested throughout, but Batchelor won by two yards in J2min 4Jseo. The manager has arranged a one-mile match between Messrs Batchelor and Maeedo for the Columbia- Championship, and will give a gold skate pin to the winner. This race will he run on Saturday evening in addition to a lj.mile hurdle race. On an obstacle race will be run, new and original in all details. Theße races are open to all comers. The ladies'and gentlemen's race for diamond skate brooch comes off on Wednesday next. The Oriental Rink, Duke Btreet, had a large attendance last night, when the final of the 'Herald'Employed Handicap (two miles) was run with the following result : W. Burnside (scratch) 1, J. Baird (10yds) 2, T. Clarke (half lap) 3. To-night a Threemiles Challenge Raoe ''will be run between A. F. flatten and Thomas Maw, The latter, it will be remembered, took first prize at this rink in the Two-mile Open Handicap and Quarter-mile Dog Race. Entrieß are rolling in for the Open Presa Handicap on the 20th. There will be a Warehouseman's Handicap on the 24th. A large number of entries Have already been received. • ■
