Captain Hansby and Captain Holford were engaged on Wednesday trying, by sweeping a chain from boats, to see if there was a rock in the vicinity where the Hawea was said to have struck. After an hour's work they gave up the job without finding anything. Yesterday Captain Holford and Mrßhind (resident engineer) were sweeping the bottom all day, but found nothing like the rock asserted by Captajn Hansby to be there. The Collector of Customs sent a diver down to-day. The man has been engaged at work since early this morning, but up to noon has discovered no rock in such a position as to interfere with any vessel entering the harbor,
