THE RINKS.

The Palace had an excellent attendance last night. In addition to the two-mile handicap race set down for Tuesday, preparations are being n? ade for a costume football match and a children's fancy dress carnival.' The Columbia was also excellently attended. An apple race wHl'take place on Saturday, and an apron and tie carnival is on the board. There was a very large attendance at the Green Island Skating Kink on Wednesday evening to witness the soapy pig hunt, which created much amusement; the winner being J. Samson. The Dunedin Cycling Club gave a surprise visit, and went through somo nice manoeuvres on their machines.
