At a well-attended meeting of the Shakespearian Revival Committee, held yesterday evening, the Hon. Sir Robert Stout in the chair, it was decided to issue a circular f<rm among those who are engaged or are likely to be willing to support the movement, with the view of ascertaining what sum could bo raised for preliminary expenses. The advisability of appointing Shakespearian, musical, and ladies’ committees was discussed, hut nothing was definitely resolved upon pending the return of Professor Mainwaring Brown. A meeting of members of the Dunedin Lacrosse Club was held in Watsons’ Hotel last evening, Mr Trythall, who presided informed the meeting that a club had been started in Christchurch, and there was now some probability of an annual match with Canterbury taking place. The club were in a good financial position. He urged upon members the necessity of practising assiduously in view of the match with Invercargill to be played here on the Queen’s Birthday.
