MR BRUNTON’S CASE.

TO THE EDITOR. Hir, — When we wrote that opinion regarding Mr Brunton’s writing to Colonel Lethbridge we had no idea that it would have come before the public as it has done. Fad we anticipated such a result we would most likely have written more at large, and would no doubt have taken care to express our opinion that Mr Brunton’s motive in writing the letter was simply kindness and a desire to see justice done to Mr D’Albcdyhll.—Wc are, etc., Thomas Dick. Alfred North. Dunedin, April 14, 1888. [We have thought it right to delete a portion of the final sentence of this letter.— Ed. E.S.]
