FATALITIES.
Harewood Mathews, a farmer at Kaitaia (Auckland) died yesterday from injuries received through being caught in a threshing machine. An old man named O'Dowil, residing in one of the Auckland suburbs, attempted to commit suicide yesterday by swallowing laudanum and eating the heads of matches, He is likely to recover. The publicans returned four and the temperance party one candidate at the Auckland South licensing election.
