My fancy for the Easter Handicap is Silence ; and if ho is beaten it will probably be by the selected of Mr Wright's pair, Friendship or Temora. There is no betting. Sextant should win the Legcr. At the Wellington races on Saturday the attendance was exceedingly limited owing to an interruption in the railway traffic on the Hutt line. Mr Tancred won three of the events, viz., the Autumn Handicap with Orator, and the Ladies' Bracelet and Petone Stakes Handicap with Forester. The principal event was the Autumn Handicap of 100 sovs, one mile and a half. For this Orator (7.6), Dudu (8.11), Little Scrub (8.10), Pilgrimage, Smooth, and The Gem also started. From a capital start Little Scrub showed in front first, with the others in a bunch. In passing the stand the first time Scrub was leading, with Pilgrimage and Dudu on his quarters ; the others close up, with the exception of Smooth, who was clean out of it. Opposite the stand the five horses were all together. Crossing the road Orator showed up in front, with Dudu second. Coming down the straight a grand race took place between the three horses, Orator winning by a neck, the same distance dividing the other four. Orator and Dudu were tho favorites. Dividend, L2 7a. Time, 2min 47sec. L 1,500 was put through the machine.
