The amount of revenue collected at the Customhouse on goods cleared tc-day for consumption wss L 1,344 13s lOd. The crops, especially the wheat, in Ida Valley (says the * Mount Ida Chronicle ’) arc generally fairly heavy, and will yield well on threshing. Mr Soain has a splendid field of wheat, averaging about 3fb in height, with long heavy ears. The soil of Ida Valley seems to be particularly adaptable to the purposes of agriculture, and produces as a rule prolific crops of wheat. Nearly, if not quite, the whole of the land from above Poolburn to within a few miles of Rough Ridge has been selected and fenced in by settlers.

The trustees can do what they like with the properties by way of sale or mortgage, and have three years’ time, the bank dropping the rate of interest to 8 per cent. The Natives have practically agreed to these proposals, and now the deeds have to be signed, and the shareholders' consent obtained. We are not out of the woo 4 , but on the edge. MINING NOTES. Operations at Reefton were at a standstill last week owing to the heavy rains, but no damage to the mines is reported. The share market is very dull. White’s Company at the Old Man Range (Clyde) report a crushing of 1920z of retorted gold from 140 tons of stone. It is reported that silver ore has been discovered tn the Clifton Station, Walau (Southland).
