Sir,—l, aa one of the travelling public, feel glad that the railway authorities have at lafct begun to try to stop the cab nuisance, so long endured by the public at the Dunedin railway station. I have many times been so hampered by cabmen's importunities, and have seen ladies to annoyed on the railway platform, that I felt sorry for them. The public should know that expressmen and cabmen are prohibited by the railway by-laws from plying for hire on the rail way platform. Their place is to wait by their vehicles till called for. I should recommend that the scale of charges be printed and posted up for general information and to protect the general public against extortion. 1 hese changes are very much required at the Dunedin station for the public benefit. —I am, etc., Pro Bono Publico.
