A friendly match was played yesterday afternoon on the Caledonian Ground between four gentlemen belonging to the Fit/.roy Bowling Club, Melbourne, and four lof the Caledonian Club. It was resolved that teams be sent, and the dates notified as soon as they can be fixed. It was resolved to enter two rinks at the tournament at Christchurch. The following skips were appointed for the under-mentioned matches : Dunedin—J. Yates, J. Ogg, J. V. Lonsdale, and G. Capstick ; Roslyn—J. Blaney, J. Ogg, J. V. Lonsdale, and E. Hogg ; Invercargill—E. Hogg, J. Ogg, and G. Capstick. The application of the Committee for the champion bowls match for the use of one rink to play the matches on any evening, Saturday excepted, was granted.
