; OAVraaHAul—Last night the statutory meeting was attended by the Mayor (Mr W. Bragg), CrsTaverner, Nutting, Methven, Frye, Baskett, and M'Kelvey. Mr Bbagg, after signing the declaration, cordially thanked the Council for the manner In which they had assisted him to canyon the business during his late term of offioe, and stated that, no effort would be wanting on his part to carry out the duties appertaining to his office in future, in-as pleasant a manner as possible.At the ordinary meeting, held immediately .' afterward* Cr Nutting reported that.there had been no meeting of the Finance Commit* tee, but. the sum of L 164 3s 4d had been lodged iu the bank since last meeting. An account of L 25, which was due to the Fire Brigade, was referred to the Finance Committee, but as there was no duorum of th» C6mmlttee it remained for the Council to say 1 whether they would pass account for payment.
