Beautiful Star, s.s., 146 tons, White, for Oamaru. India, barquentine, 849 tons, Jorgeneon, for Nelson. The Oerda, coal-laden from Greymoutb, arrived at 3.30 p.m. yestorday, and passed the Port to Donedin. She left Greymoutb at 2.30 p.m. of the 20th Inst. The Invercargill, from Invercargill via Waikawa, arrived at 7 a.m. today. She left the former port at 8 p.m. on the 22nd Inst, readied Waikawa at 7 a.m. on the 25th, and left again at 8 p.m. same day. Had light winds and fine weather along tho coast. Toe Kakanui, from Furtroso, arrived at Duncdin wharf at 1 a.m. to-day. She left Fortrose at 8 a.m. yesterday, and had fine weather along tbo coast. The Koranui arrived at 7 a.m. to-day. She left Greymouth at midnight on tho 19th Inst., called at Nelson and Wellington, and left the latter port at 1 p.m. on the 22nd lost., and reached Lyttelton at 8 a.m. on the 23rd; landed mails and passengers, and left again at 10 a.m., arriving as above. The U.S.B. Company's steamer Takapuna left the Rattray street wharf at noon to-day for a trip outside the Heads and back, taking the employes of tho Company and their friends. The barquentine India, with part cargo of sugar from the Mauritius, was towed olear of the Heads this f irenoon, and sailed for Nelson. ' The keel of the new steamer to be built by Messrs Harland and Wolff for the Oceanic Steamship Company (White Star) is about to be laid. The length of the new steamer is to be 665 ft, and her beam is to be 62ft. She is to have twin f crows, and her engines (which are to be built light) are to have 16,000 horsepower. Her plans have been altered several times,' in accordance with each new development in marine architecture and engineering which has been disclosed in the construction of large steamers for other compadies.
